Alex Akers

Software engineer. Always sweats the details. Might ship the thing.

About Me

When I’m not busy photographing the world through a 128 × 112 grayscale camera from 1998, I work as a senior software engineer at Apple.

I currently work on Shortcuts, helping make automation and scripting more approachable and user friendly. Previously, I focused on digital identity and secure credentials in Apple Wallet.

Before Apple, I worked on products like Super Follows at Twitter, productivity experiences for Microsoft Outlook and To Do, and started my career at Branch back when it was a tiny startup later acquired by Facebook.

Across all of it, I’ve been most drawn to projects that make technology feel a little more human — playful when possible, thoughtful when necessary, and occasionally just weird for the fun of it.

What I Do

Work

Thoughtful software, playful interactions, and tools built for real people.

Play

A place for experiments, side quests, and delightfully unnecessary ideas.

Camera

Moments, textures, experiments, and tiny grayscale memories.

Journal

Notes, experiments, observations, and occasional overthinking.
